Life in Neon Empty Life in Neon

Post by Neon Mon Jan 31, 2011 3:31 am

Have you ever noticed that in life, for each and every moment that you live it, you perceive it to be a certain way only to look back on it after a period of years and say to yourself, "What the hell was I thinking?"

Throughout our lives, we perceive each and every moment to be either time well-spent, or a complete waste, whether we consciously acknowledge it or not. Usually it's not until we are on our death bed do we take the time to reflect on how we have lived and what we have done with our lives.

Like anything that's observed under a neon light, the light has a way of changing the colors that we see. In life, what we choose and accept in order to create our own personal code is subjective to one's own personal beliefs. We perceive our personal "laws" as being set in black and white, however, every once in a while someone comes along and shines a "neon light" over our lives. What we thought was set in black and white now becomes shades of blue, red, green, yellow, orange, purple, and black.

As emotion has a way of clouding our sense of logic, time and again we often find ourselves fooled by the "neon light" emitted by those around us. The "light" obscures what we thought our relationships with those immediately around us were based upon and, unfortunately, it's usually too late when we have that great epiphany where all the pretty colors are drowned out. Are you the "neon light"? Am I? Or do we live in an absence of light where illusions are the foundations of our relationships?
